Strikas stand up to Gallacticos despite jungle fiasco

After a gruelling battle to assert their status in Monday’s game, Supa Strikas saw off European counterparts Gallacticos with a brilliant display that ended in a 2-2 draw.

It was a clash Strikas were waiting for, their first Super League encounter against Gallacticos. However, the Men in Red’s first eleven were quarantined after a friendly game in the jungle when a wild monkey was found on the plane. It was said the monkey had a virus, and the team was put on lockdown until it was tested by animal specialists.

Instead of forfeiting the game, Coach decided to call in the B-side. It was a chance for the likes of Rizo, Lankey, Turk and Griz to prove their talent to Coach and supporters in their first ever Super League game.

First Half: Strikas started the game well, despite not having their top players. They blocked every Gallacticos attack in the first 10 minutes. For Strikas it was going well and they were stunned when Gallacticos took the lead. Strikas fans were not happy as Gallacticos now dominated the game and Strikas’ resistance seemed to be over. The European giants were all over Strikas. The B-side managed to stay firm but conceded two goals in the first half.

Strikas fans were in panic and didn’t know what the second half would be like without Shegs, Dancing Rasta and the rest of the starting eleven. But Strikas discovered the monkey had no virus, and it was suspected someone planted the monkey on the plane. Coach and Strikas rushed to the stadium just before the second half.

Second Half: In the second stanza, Strikas returned with the first eleven and Rizo was among them. Strikas showed their class – menacing the Gallacticos goalmouth like vultures. The Men in Red were rewarded with goals from Shegs and El Matador. Gallacticos didn’t give up as they kept up their attack against Strikas. Rizo made a last saving tackle that ended the game in a draw.

After the win Supanews spoke to Coach, asking him about the team’s superb display and who the man behind the monkey fiasco was. Coach said they didn’t know who was behind the monkey saga, and hopes the person will be found and jailed.

“The B-side played very well to hold Gallacticos. I’m happy we didn’t lose valuable points. As a coach I’m proud to be coaching players who show commitment and determination throughout the game,” added Coach.

Supa Strikas ended the day with their heads held high, both the B-side and the first eleven.
