Supa Strikas keep their number two spot in the Super League after narrowly beating a tough Club Orion 2-1 at Strikaland. The victory puts pressure on Japan’s finest team, F.C. Nakama, as the league starts to heat up.
Although they struggled to contain Orion, the Men in Orange kept their spot ahead of archrivals Invincible United. Only a late goal sealed the victory and Strikas fans will be asking: “Are our boys ready for Invincible United and other tougher league opponents?”
Coach’s boys at the back were exposed numerous times to the agility of Orion’s striker, Meda. Meda’s incredible speed and physical strength troubled The Blok and North Shaw. If it wasn’t for the brilliance of Cool Joe in the middle, Strikas would have lost the game.
Cool Joe danced his way through the midfield, creating chances for Shegs and El Matador to score. Cool Joe’s hard work was rewarded when he was named “Man of the Match” after the game. This was a classy indication that Strikas won’t go down at home twice in a row.
The victory has kept Strikas’ chances of winning the title alive and keeps them in the second position in the league. Nakama dropped two valuable points when they drew with Iron Tank in Japan, and now Strikas trail Nakama by 3 points.
Coach knows Strikas need to evolve if they want to retain the league title. And they’ll be feeling the pressure as the league showdown between Strikas and Technicali draws closer and closer.
